Asher L-W is a guitarist and musician based in Leeds/London, blending jazz, soul, funk, R&B, rock, and pop into a sound that feels expressive, fresh and deeply personal. Whether he’s laying down smooth melodic lines or digging into a groove, Asher plays with feel, space, and intention, always serving the song and always listening.

His journey started young, growing up surrounded by music at home. Watching his dad play guitar sparked an early curiosity, and before long, he picked up the instrument himself. From there, his love of music only grew. Early influences like The Beatles, David Bowie, and The Specials laid the foundation, but over time, his world opened up to the likes of B.B. King, John Mayer, Santana, Wes Montgomery, Mansur Brown, John Scofield, and many more. All of these players who brought soul and storytelling into their playing.

Now in his first year of formal music study, at Leeds Conservatoire, Asher is already gigging regularly and making a name for himself on the live circuit. Playing live is where he feels most at home He says "it’s all about connection, chemistry, and creating a moment with the audience and the musicians around"  Whether it’s a small room or a big crowd, he brings energy and focus to every performance.

Beyond his own playing, Asher has also been working as a session guitarist, contributing to a handful of projects that are set to release soon in time for summer. He’s excited to be part of other artists' visions, adding texture, tone, and a different personality to their tracks while learning more about collaboration and studio work. While production isn’t his main focus right now, it’s something he’s keen to explore as he grows. Being able to craft and record his own ideas is high on the list of future goals.

At the heart of Asher’s approach is a love for honest, feel-good music. He’s not interested in showing off or sticking to just one style,  he’s about emotion, groove, and creativity. He draws from the old-school and the new-school equally, building a sound that feels rooted yet evolving.

Long term, Asher’s ambitions are big, he wants to tour, collaborate with artists around the world, and keep developing his sound in meaningful ways. For now, he’s focused on building a solid foundation: playing live, learning from others, and sharing his music with anyone who wants to listen.

Whether he’s on stage, in the studio, or jamming in a rehearsal room, Asher brings a calm confidence, a thoughtful touch, and a deep respect for the craft.
